Born in Evansville, IN on May 24, 1930 to Adele Andres Schwentker and James Milton Schwentker, Sr. The youngest of three children with older siblings James Milton Schwentker, Jr. and Carolyn Ann Daus.
Attended Bosse High School Class of ’48 and Purdue University School of Mechanical Engineering Joined the navy and attended Officer Candidate School, graduating as Ensign. Spent 3 yrs on the U.S.S. Prichett DD-561 during the Korean War. He went on to serve as Engineer Officer during the Formosan Crisis. He loved his time aboard ship and has enjoyed attending ship reunions and keeping in touch with his former shipmates over the years.
Married Peggy Ann Poling (Evansville, IN) in Nov 1956, moved to Vallejo, CA before relocating to Walnut Creek, CA. They loved living in the San Francisco Bay area but they decided to return to the Midwest.
Moved to Columbus, IN and worked for Cummins Engine Company where coincidentally
their catty-corner neighbors were Bill and Susie Rutan. Moved back to Evansville with eldest daughter, Ellen, a new addition, Amy Caroline, followed later by brother, John Jr. Joined the family business, Evansville Electric Manufacturing Co. where he retired after 27 years.
Married Jean Rudd from Morganfield, KY in 1991 and they have enjoyed wonderful trips in their travel trailer visiting friends and family. They have also relished their extended stays in Ft. Myers Beach, FL where they have entertained many guests (and savored many a fresh seafood dish, lots of late night domino games and key lime pie).
